Abstract：

This paper sorts out the current state of urban morphology in the Macao Peninsula and analyzes historical literature and data. Combining the identification of the “Figure-ground” and the expansion of land reclamation during urban development, based on the characteristics of road network morphology, the city of the Macao Peninsula was divided into four morphological regions. Using this as a clue, a typical plot of land is selected from each morphological region for research and comparative analysis. With quantitative analysis of the nodes, the segments and the integration in the road network, this paper reveals the important urban morphological characteristics of the Macao Peninsula and figures out the differences of the four morphological regions from the road networks. It provides a new perspective and research method for the protection and continuation of urban morphological characteristics. At the same time, these analyses further confirm the effectiveness of the dividing about morphological regions.
