小型公共空间作为城市“实体空间”之外“空”的部分，承担了街道与建筑之间的过渡作用。这类空间在为城市注入活力的同时，也记录了城市更新演替过程中大量的历史信息，因此具有很强的研究价值。本文在城市形态学视角下，对规划学科较少关注的城市中“无形”的部分——小型公共空间展开研究：基于空间格局与构成、使用与质量两方面构建城市小型公共空间的形态识别体系，并以巴塞罗那中世纪到21 世纪的5 类小型城市空间为研究对象进行历史类型研究，试图揭示城市小型公共空间作为“空”的部分对城市肌理、文脉传承的重要性，同时传达以人为本的“均质化”和“非设计”的思想。本研究对于国内城市更新过程中的历史文脉传承、公共空间营造具有参考意义。

Small public spaces, as the “empty” parts beyond the urban physical spaces, play a transitional role between streets and buildings. While injecting vitality into cities, these spaces also preserve a wealth of historical information during urban renewal and succession processes, making them highly valuable for research. This paper explores the often-neglected intangible aspects of urban areas, specifically small public spaces, from the perspective of urban morphology. It establishes a recognition system for the form of small urban public spaces based on spatial patterns and composition, as well as their usage and quality. The study focuses on five types of small urban spaces in Barcelona, spanning from the Middle Ages to the 21st century, to investigate historical typologies. The aim is to reveal the significance of small public spaces as the “empty” parts in relation to urban fabric and contextual heritage, and their embodiment of a people-oriented, “homogeneous” and “non-designed” approach. This research holds reference value for preserving historical context, and creating public spaces in urban renewal processes in China.
