Urban Development and Planning——the China Paradigm under the Global Perspective(ShenZhen 2010.12)

Conference Notice

Since 2008, the world economy has not yet recovered from the shock of the financial tsunami. But China has been standing out with the impetus of its economic growth. Meanwhile, the Copenhagen Summit has intensified the contest of the national status and economic benefits in the field of "carbon emissions". In this context, China’s urban development and urban planning are confronted with many new concepts and ideas. Many cities have focused their targets on building a world city, a low-carbon city or an eco-city, etc.

The year of 2010 marks the thirtieth anniversary of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. Shenzhen, a small border town from 30 years ago, has now developed into a prosperous metropolis of more than 15 million people. Her experiences and lessons learned in urban development and planning are a precious reference for future development of many other cities in China.

Therefore, the Academic Committee of Foreign Studies in Urban Planning (ACoFSUP) and the Journal of Urban Planning International, will host the annual conference in Shenzhen on December 3-5 of 2010. The theme of the conference is “Urban Development and Planning: the China Paradigm under the Global Perspective”. We would like to invite experts, scholars and college students from home and abroad to meet at Seaview O·City Hotel in Shenzhen to discuss the related topics.
